The Lahonton Valley Bird Dog Club (LVBDC) was formed by 6 individuals who believe that a well trained hunting dog is the essence of any bird hunting experience. In fact, without dogs why hunt? We also recognize that the purchase and training of a bird hunting dog is a major commitment of time and money. We believe that training a dog is more effective and enjoyable when it is shared with others facing the same challenges. The LVBDC was started to provide an organization where like minded people could gather to share bird dog training resources, tips and experiences. We welcome anyone who is committed to hunting with a well trained dog and wants to be part of a group with the same goal. It makes no difference whether you hunt with a flushing or pointing dog, if you love dogs, bird hunting, and camaraderie you belong in this club.
The LVBDC holds regular training sessions where members get together and share training techniques in the field. We have access to all the normal training tools including live birds. Our members have a tremendous amount of knowledge concerning the training of both upland and pointing dogs. They love to share that knowledge as well as learn from new members. We also hold an annual competition where you can test you and your dog’s ability against competitors from across Nevada and the West. Our competitions are family events where everyone from toddlers to seniors can attend and watch a myriad of dogs demonstrate their ability to find game and retrieve it to a hunter’s bag. For individuals that may be interested in purchasing a new hunting dog the competition and training days provide an opportunity to talk in depth with owners of various hunting dog breeds about their benefits and limitations.
The easiest way to join the club is to fill out A membership application. We have several member ship options including a single membership option that is $30.00 per year, a family membership that is $35.00 per year and a Charter membership which is $250.00 and is good for the lifetime of the member.
Please contact any of the Board members listed on the website for additional information or to request a membership application.
